You're right, they actually do - but mainly the top of the leg. The main reason is to make it easy to massage with oil/cream. Otherwise, the cream (not sure this is the right word, but you see what i mean) gets in the hair... Same for bikers...

Cyclists do for two reasons - 1 (minimal) reduced wind resistance, but 2 (more importantly) it prevents leg hair getting into cuts/grazes when they fall off their bikes, and so aids healing

i know some trim their legs for a couple of reasons like one mentioned above but i never seen heard of plaers shaving their legs.
