what do I need to start playing soccer?

I really want to start playing soccer, I only have a soccer ball to begin with, what else do I have to do to actualy start playing? im seriously lost I have no soccer knowledge what so ever and I will do anything it takes to play good enough soccer i dont want to be pro
but i need to start somewhere

You need some decent soccer cleats and shinpads. Shinpads are the most useful thing you will ever come across while playing soccer, believe me!

You've already got the soccer ball, so just set up some cones and go for it. Contact the local club in your area and ask about teams and training times.

It also helps to build up a trusting relationship with the soccer ball hitting various parts of the body, especially your face/head. Most new soccer players freak out when the ball heads their way in the air. (Did that make sense? Anyway,) Also don't push yourself too hard to begin with. Slowly build up your skills like passing and dribbling. It also depends what position you want to play. A goalie doesn't need dribbling skills, but would probably need to work on hand-eye co-ordination, where a striker needs to pratise being evasive and shooting.

Patience also helps. If you are starting out relativily new, it's gonna be hell frustrating at first, but stick with it and your gonna love soccer!

that's all you need bro a ball, do you think kids in africa and latin american countries have the luxury of possesing cleats and shinguards and goal posts no sometimes they don't even have a real ball they have a ball made out of rags or whatever and kick it around barefoot and still great players come out of these countries but just start kicking it around learn how to dribble a little bit and watch some games practice thier moves and maybe one day you'll be a decent player

Shin guards, socks to go over them and depending if you play indoor or outdoor soccer shoes. I started last spring never knowing how and I'm having a blast! Have fun!
